Russian Cthulhu Fluxx is the Hobby World-licensed edition with Russian cards and rules. Here's what to check before buying a foreign-language Fluxx deck.
Quick answer
You get the Russian-language edition of Cthulhu Fluxx, published under license by Hobby World: the cards and rules are in Russian, while the game itself plays like the original. Buy it if your table reads Russian; otherwise pick an English or other-language edition.
Why a licensed foreign-language edition matters
A licensed edition is not a fan translation. Hobby World produces this version under license, so the Russian text is an official localization of Cthulhu Fluxx rather than a home-made paste-up. That matters for card wording: Fluxx rules and goals are read aloud constantly, and inconsistent terminology slows every turn.
The trade-off is that support material, community rule discussions, and house-rule posts online are mostly written around the English edition. If your group mixes languages, agree on one edition for the table so everyone reads the same card text.
When a Russian deck is the wrong purchase
Skip it if no one at the table reads Russian comfortably. Fluxx is a reading game—every new rule and goal has to be understood immediately—so a deck in a language your group doesn't read turns a light game into a translation exercise.
Also check before buying whether you want the base Cthulhu Fluxx experience or a variant. The catalog entry describes this as the Russian edition of Cthulhu Fluxx and does not list expansions or extra components, so don't assume it bundles anything beyond that.
Russian Cthulhu Fluxx buying questions
- What language are the cards in?
- Russian. This is the Russian-language edition of Cthulhu Fluxx, licensed and produced by Hobby World, so card text and rules are localized for Russian-speaking players.
- Is it the same game as English Cthulhu Fluxx?
- Yes in play: the catalog describes it as offering the same unpredictable fun as the original, with rules and goals that change during play. The difference is the language of the printed components, not the core game. If your group already owns an English copy, buying this adds a second language version, not new mechanics.
- Can English speakers play it anyway?
- Only with help. Because every card must be read and applied as it appears, a group that doesn't read Russian will need a translator at the table or a reference sheet. Treat that as a real limitation, not a minor inconvenience.
- Does it include expansions?
- The supplied catalog information describes the base Russian edition of Cthulhu Fluxx and does not list expansions or bonus components. Check the product page before assuming extra content is inside.
- Who is this edition for?
- Russian-speaking Fluxx fans and groups who want Cthulhu Fluxx in their own language, plus collectors of foreign-language Fluxx editions. It is a poor fit for tables that only read English.
